I've got a lot to catch up on since my last post about last Christmas. Sam graduated from preschool, we went to Colorado, Utah, Lake Powell, Disneyworld, the beach, Sam started kindergarten, Caleb turned 3 and Sam turned 6. It's going to take me a while to go through all of pictures and adventures from the last nine months so I'll start with some things from this month.
Caleb, Jared and Sam had birthdays. Caleb's was first. I think he had a pretty fun day. He had blueberry muffins for breakfast and we went to Wendy's for lunch. He had chicken nuggets and chocolate milk and got some pretty cool "Where's Waldo" glasses. He seemed a little confused throughout the day when people would sing or say happy birthday but by the end of the day when he had cupcakes and opened presents he realized that it was a special day just for him.
He sure is cute.
Jared's birthday was next. We brought him breakfast in bed but he was already ready for the day. I did find some pretty awesome celebration glasses for all of us.
Sam's birthday was last. I think he had a pretty great day too. He had french toast for breakfast and then Caleb and I surprised him at school and had lunch there with him. That night he used his birthday money from family to buy a Jake and the Neverland Pirates game for his leapster and we went to Chucky Cheese for dinner (one of his favorite places to go).
We had a combined birthday party for Sam and Caleb last week. It was pirate themed and the kids had a blast.
The cake. I saw the idea on pinterest. Mine didn't turn out as well but oh well. The kids mostly ate cupcakes so reminder to myself just to make cupcakes next year or a really small cake with cupcakes. We told the kids that Davy Jones was recruiting them to join his crew but in order to join they had to find the pirate swords he had hidden in a special treasure chest. The kids loved it. We had fun playing pin the treasure chest on the map, in a pirate treasure island bounce house, and with the pinata.

Cute birthday pirate captain!
Kids eating and cute little twin pirates.

Sam is playing soccer again this season. This is his third season and he's got one friend, Landon, who has been on his team all three seasons. (He's also in his kindergarten class.) He enjoys soccer and we love watching him and cheering him on.
I love this kid too. I got some pretty good shots of him even though he was making faces in a lot of them.
Sam also had a fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch this week and I got to chaperone. I was so excited I got to go with him. He was pretty excited too.
Sam's kindergarten class and Mrs. White (his teacher).
"King of the World"
I had to take this picture of Sam today. We came home from soccer and he went straight to painting. He loves art and can stay focused for hours when doing it.

Your blog just popped up on my google reader. :)
I have to say, you are absolutely right...write it for your own family and if others happen to read it, great. It is a treasure to have all your pictures with details that go along. I put my blog into a book via blurb.com every year. i've been blogging since 2007 and so I at least have our family scrapbook/journals from then until now--5 printed hardback books. I am horrible at journaling and horrible and scrapbooking, so my blogs accomplish both those goals for me. :)
So, my advice is: DO IT. You won't regret the time you spend on it...family history in the making.
Your boys are adorable!
I care!! Keep the posts coming! :)
Thanks Kathy. I have been wanting to turn my blog into books but wasn't sure where to do it so I'll have to check out blurb.
And thank you Marissa. I appreciate it.
I feel the same way about my blog--really, my dad reads it and one or two others occasionally, and that's it. I do it to sort and stay caught up on memories with favorite family photos through the year. It makes it so much easier to make a book of the year for Christmas. I'm glad you are doing it--it can offer a lot of personal satisfaction as a mom to record those memorable moments....so we remember them :) My afternoon is being spent catching up on mine (from lake powell to Halloween....Yikes) to make the books in time for Christmas!
